VIP2 is the sequel of 2015 film “Raghuvaran B.Tech” which was released on 1st January 2015. Raghuvaran B.Tech become a huge hit in Telugu as well. VIP2 movie starring Dhanush, Kajol, Amala Paul, Ritu Varma and Samuthirakani directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth. It was already released in Tamil on 11th August 2017.
Vasundhara Parameswaran(Kajol) leads one of the biggest construction companies in South India is a very determined lady and a pure business oriented person, she comes across Raghuvaran( Dhanush)at an awards ceremony while he receives the best engineer award and offers him a job in her construction company which he promptly rejects and also turns out to be her rival in bagging the projects which hurts her ego and starts taking revenge on him. What did vasundhara do to Raghuvaran ? How Raghuvaran counters Vasundhara? What happens at the end? Is the story.
It is not an easy task to make a sequel of a super hit movie, if the story or the emotion does not match the original then the movie will be bluntly rejected by the audience and this is the case with VIP 2. It could not match the original story, pace or the emotional elements shown in the first part. But the main two characters of the movie Dahanush and Kajol are nicely elevated.
First half of the movie runs on a swift pace packed with scenes between Dhanush and Amala Paul and their romance which leads to a series of comical scenes. Kajol is brilliant in her role. The scenes where the villain tries to suppress the hero and he counter attacking them and coming out with flying colors was already shown In the first part, almost same scenes and strategies were used again in the second part which will bore the audience. Songs are no help to the movie.
The only difference between Raghuvaran B-Tech and VIP 2 is the inclusion of Kajol in a negative role apart from which everything is same. The story is very flat and apart from few scenes in the first half nothing is impressive, Soundarya Rajinikanth could not impress as a director. The music is bad and does not help the movie anywhere but the back ground score and the dubbing part worked well
Cinematography by Samir Tahiir is the only saving grace as every frame is crystal clear.
