Story & Plot:
Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan) is a former wrestler from Haryana. His goal was to win a gold medal for India in wrestling, but he fails to do so. He hopes that his unfulfilled dream would be achieved by his son, but fate had its own game and his wife delivers four daughters in the hope of a son. Mahavir was unhappy with this, at first. One day, Mahavir’s daughters Geeta (Fatima Sana Sheikh) and Babita (Sanya Malhotra) beat up the local guys and the journey of Mahavir to train them to win gold medals starts. Omkar (Aparshakti Khurrana), nephew of Mahavir joins them in their aggressive training. The rest of the story is how Mahavir trains his daughters to become national champions and how Geeta bags the gold medal in Commonwealth Games in 2010.
From the beginning to the ending of the film it’s an emotional ride. Right from the direction, screenplay, editing to the performances of the actors, everything was excellent. The other lead characters also did a great job. The movie is spell bounding the audience with the extraordinary screenplay, perfect match dialogues. The songs and background score is excellent. The international games in the film look realistic. Overall the film will give a lot of inspiraton.
When compared to the first half, the second half of the film pick up the pace slowly.
Aamir Khan’s performance is just mind boggling. Girls Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra, are magical on screen. Vivan Bhatena and Girish Kulkarni in their small roles are good.
